Mon aventure avec le cinéma

I have a confession.

I’m having an affair.

It was bound to happen. I was reeled in by the insatiable taste it first left in my mouth. As it transgressed, an hour or two would transpose into days and eventually into weeks and months, at sunrise to sunset; nightfall to daybreak, in different positions and different horizons. On the bed, the floor, the living room, the dining table, the kitchen, the closet, my baby brother’s room, by the window, the passenger seat, a 5-star hotel, and as I say this, a faint blush on my cheeks arise as even very public places such as a university’s auditorium, the train, the airplane, and even the theater are without a doubt, the most memorable. Those unguarded moments…

Each experience varies. I’m either left subdued, breathless, relaxed, horrified, gratified, disappointed, emotional, upbeat, immutable, influenced, heartbroken, loved, and even abandoned and such somersaults always leave me coming for more. At an earshot, I have no desire to put an end to an already growing, needing cult, stretching their limbs to the cosmos, chanting moans of obsession and sensuality in the person that is I.

I can’t help it. I guess, it’s safe to dangerously say that I have been ultimately possessed body, mind, and soul.

Oh, what poetry cinema bears. As Francois Truffaut puts it, “Film lovers are sick people.”

Talk about insane. You have one psychotic fan right here.

Anyway, my apologies for leading you astray, but here under is what seems to be my very own movie alphabet, comprising my favorites. While some were religiously chosen out of their outstanding cinematic symbiosis or having contended or even transcended their book counterparts and while others were tagged out of sheer whim, Oscar-knighted or “rotten tomatoed,” they all equally share my fervor for social realities that are magnified in the world of cinema.

Do tell me what I’m missing? Enjoy! Perhaps you can grab a movie or two! 🙂
